As we travel\, marine ecologist Karin Dubsky will help us look more closely at everything from seaweed and seabirds to marine life and the habitats beneath the waves. Our guides will be the books that have taught generations how to identify and understand the natural world — from early seaweed guides and school nature books to the pioneering Sherkin Island guides and today’s beautifully illustrated field guides. She is head of the environmental group Coastwatch\, partner in 2 EU horizon research projects more4nature and ECOTWIN. Karin has a history of initiating projects and actions to inform and strengthen public participation in environmental protection\, monitoring and management\, especially in the coastal zone. That includes co-design of the European Blue Flag for beaches\, then piloting and running the scheme in Ireland for 5 years. The Coastwatch survey\, a volunteer eco-audit of the shore is closest to her citizen science heart. She co-designed it with Frank Mc Donald of the Irish Times and extended it to 23 countries\, enticing citizens to discover and report on their shore\, gather valuable data to share and empower to avoid or indeed challenge environmental harm. She was educated by the Holy Faithers in Finglas\, the U. Mass. Bostonians\, the Trinity M.Phillers in Dublin and the Ph.D. Magicians at Queens University\, Belfast. Her debut collection\, Flight Paths Over Finglas was hewn from her hometown. A child survivor of the Talbot Street bomb\, her second collection May Day 1974\, has received critical acclaim for the 33 docu-sonnets and 33 ballads for the people who died on the single worst day the Troubles. Her third collection\, Dancing with Memory is a dance hall of memory for her mother who lived with dementia. Her fourth collection\, Wild Flowers on the Darndale Roundabout was inspired by the Fridays for Future activists. In November 2026 she will release Saints Alive with Salmon Poetry. She teaches at the Trinity Access Programme and presents Poetry People on RTÉ Radio 1.  \nColm Keegan Colm Keegan is an award winning writer and poet from Dublin\, Ireland. He has three collections of poetry including Don’t Go There\,  Randomer\, and the newly released: Camcorder. His debut full-length play “For Saoirse” was staged in Axis Theatre and shortlisted for the Fishamble New Writing award in 2018. His short play “Something Worth Saying\,” commissioned for the Abbey Theatre’s Dear Ireland project in 2020 was called ‘exquisite and devastating’ by reviewer Emer O’ Kelly. In 2014 was awarded a residency in the LexIcon\, Ireland’s largest public library. He has developed numerous creative writing projects for schools and colleges across the country. He is a creative writing teacher and co-founder of the Inklinks Project\, a writing initiative for young writers\, and was the writer in residence for Carlow College St Patricks in 2019. He also developed and co-ordinates South Dublin Epic for SDCC arts office. \nNessa O’Mahony was born in Dublin. She has published five previous books of poetry: Bar Talk (1999)\, Trapping a Ghost (2005)\, In Sight of Home (2009)\, Her Father’s Daughter (2014) and The Hollow Woman on the Island (2019). Dodder Daughter is her sixth collection. She has edited journals and anthologies\, including issues of The Stony Thursday Book\, The North (with Jane Clarke)\, Empty House (with Alice Kinsella) and Poetry Ireland Review. She writes fiction and non-fiction. She edited the illustrated anthology Windfall: Irish Nature Poems to Inspire and Connect (Hachette Books Ireland\, 2023) and co-authored with Catherine Cleary The Hare’s Corner: Making Space for Nature (New Island Books\, 2025). In 2016 Jane won the Hennessy Literary Award for Emerging Poetry and the inaugural Listowel Writer’s Week Poem of the Year Award. Jane’s third collection A Change in the Air was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best Collection 2023 and the T.S. Eliot Prize 2023. Jane grew up on a farm in Co. Roscommon and now lives in the Wicklow uplands. She is particularly interested in how poetry can support collective action to protect and restore nature at this time of environmental breakdown. \nBelinda McKeon is the author of the novels Solace (2011) and Tender (2015). This event celebrates the publication of Stay Winter (Faber & Faber)\, Eipe’s much-anticipated second collection\, incorporating a participatory fire ritual to welcome the dark half of the year. She is the author of two poetry collections\, Auguries of a Minor God and Stay Winter\, both published by Faber & Faber. Her first collection was a finalist for the Dylan Thomas Prize\, John Pollard Foundation International Poetry Prize\, Michael Murphy Memorial Prize and the Butler Literary Award\, and listed as a Poetry Book Society Recommendation\, National Poetry Day Recommendation\, Shakespeare & Co. Year of Reading Selection\, and a Book of the Year by The Irish Times and The Irish Independent. She is a member of the Expert Advisory Committee of Culture Ireland and the board of the Dublin Book Festival. \nCaoimhín Ó Raghallaigh makes music on a 10-string fiddle called the hardanger d’amore. He has performed on some of the most beautiful stages in the world\, including the Sydney Opera House\, the Royal Albert Hall and the Carnegie Hall. Caoimhín performs as a solo artist\, yet is also widely known through his collaborative work\, including groups The Gloaming and This is How We Fly\, and duos with Dan Trueman\, Thomas Bartlett\, Garth Knox\, Mick O’Brien and Brendan Begley.
