SUMMARY:An Evening with Maggie O'Farrell
DESCRIPTION:Join Dublin Book Festival for an evening with bestselling author Maggie O’Farrell as we celebrate the release of her new novel\, Land.\n\n\nJoin us for an evening with bestselling author Maggie O’Farrell\, as we celebrate the release of her new novel\, Land. \nInspired by the mapping of Ireland in the mid nineteenth century\, the new novel from the author of Hamnet is at once intimate and epic: a portrait of a family navigating a legacy of upheaval and survival with resilience and love. \nLand is a story of buried treasure\, overlapping lives\, ancient woodland\, persistent ghosts and a particularly loyal dog. It’s also a story about place\, and how layers of history change landscapes and the people who live in them. Maggie joins author Niamh Campbell in conversation. \nMaggie O’Farrell is the author of nine previous novels\, including Hamnet which won the Women’s Prize for Fiction in 2020. Hamnet has been made into a film and Maggie co-write the screenplay with Academy-Award-winning director Chloé Zhao. The film has already won Best Motion Picture – Drama at the Golden Globes and the audience award at multiple film festivals including Telluride\, Toronto and London. Maggie’s bestselling books include the novels After You’d Gone\, The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox\, The Hand that First Held Mine and her memoir I Am\, I Am\, I Am. \nNiamh Campbell is the author of This Happy (2020) and We Were Young (2022). She has won the Rooney Prize for Irish literature\, one of Ireland’s most distinguished prizes and the Sunday Times Audible Short Story prize. Niamh lectures in creative writing in UCD. Her forthcoming novel\, Make Strange will publish in June. \nThe Book & Ticket bundle includes a stamped author signature Trade Paperback copy of Land exclusive to the Land tour. \nEvent takes place in the Gate Theatre\, Cavendish Row\, Parnell Sq East\, Rotunda\, Dublin 1. \n \nPlease note we may be capturing candid imagery at this event for use on our social media and website. \nTo hear first about our future events sign up to our newsletter here.
