He is also editor and publisher of The Dublin Review.  \nNoelle Moran is Executive Editor of UCD Press\, publishers of the best contemporary non-fiction writing\, focusing on scholarly work in subjects including history\, literary studies\, and more recently migration\, gender and queer studies\, and art history and architecture. After her MA in Postcolonial Literature at the University of London\, Noelle began her publishing career interning at HarperCollins and Bloomsbury Publishing\, London. Her first job was as an editor at The History Press in Gloucestershire\, and she has worked in both trade and academic publishing since. She currently sits on the EDI Committee for Publishing Ireland and is a member of Even UP\, a committee of UK and Irish university presses committed to EDI in their workplaces\, in who they work with\, and in what they publish. \nEimear Ryan is the author of a novel\, Holding Her Breath (Penguin Sandycove\, 2021)\, and a memoir\, The Grass Ceiling (Penguin Sandycove\, 2023). Her writing has appeared in Granta\, The Dublin Review\, The Stinging Fly\, Winter Papers\, Lit Hub\, and elsewhere. She is a co-founder and editor of Banshee literary journal and its publishing imprint\, Banshee Press. From Co. Tipperary\, she now lives in Cork city\, where she lectures in creative writing at University College Cork.  \nDr. Jonathan C. Creasy is a writer\, editor\, publisher\, and producer. Wild Iris (Dedalus) is her debut novel\, described by John Banville as ‘wonderfully inventive…funny\, moving and vastly entertaining.’ She’s the editor of Books Ireland\, The Irish Writers Handbook and the host of the Burning Books podcast.  \nJuliano Zaffino is a writer\, researcher and editor based near London. He founded YourShelf\, a bespoke book-subscription service\, in 2016. Over time\, YourShelf expanded to encompass the YourShelf Podcast\, where he interviewed a variety of writers from Lauren Groff to Doireann Ni Ghriofa\, as well as the YourShelf Press\, which published the author’s own poetry collection All Those Bodies And They’re Moving (2020)\, and Rebecca Lucy Taylor’s SELF ESTEEM (2021). The author also introduced Florence Welch to the Strasbourg dancing plague of 1616\, which inspired her 2022 album Dance Fever. Zaffino holds a PhD on ‘Cutting Shakespeare’\, from the Shakespeare Institute and the Royal Shakespeare Company. In Tipping Away (Gill Books)\, Colm turns his attention to Hiberno-English\, exploring the words and expressions that have evolved through our workplaces\, homes\, pubs\, communities and everyday lives. In Pop Culchie (Eriu)\, Páraic delves into the oddities and eccentricities of Irish popular culture\, from Daniel O’Donnell and the Fat Frog to national moral panics\, forgotten pop acts\, unusual scandals and the curious history of Housewife of the Year. \nIn conversation with arts journalist Pat Carty\, they uncover the humour\, quirks and contradictions that make Irish culture so distinctive — and ask why we are\, quite simply\, the way we are. \n \nPáraic Kerrigan is an Irish Times bestselling author\, researcher and Assistant Professor at UCD. He was also a star in the smash hit second season of The Traitors Ireland\, where he was selected as a traitor. His expertise in Irish popular culture stems partly from academic study and partly from an unhealthy level of affection for Irish pop music and cult films. He maintains\, without irony\, that Fade Street and Dublin Wives are key national texts worthy of serious scholarly attention. He also believes that Six’s “There a Whole Lot of Loving” is one of the great\, overlooked achievements of Irish musical history. Following several unsuccessful attempts to become a pop star\, he turned to writing books instead. His previous book\, Reeling in the Queers\, was shortlisted for an Irish Book Award in 2024. \nColm O’Regan is an acclaimed Irish author and columnist\, known for his humorous explorations of Irish life and culture. He is the author of eight books\, including the Irish Mammies trilogy\, Bolloxology\, the Ann Devine novels and Climate Worrier. As a stand-up comedian\, MC and event host\, he has performed all over the world. He has written for and performed on TV and radio and has a weekly column for the Irish Examiner. He lives with family in Dublin\, but his heart and language are still in his home of Dripsey in Co. Cork. \nPat Carty is a freelance arts journalist and broadcaster whose work has featured in The Sunday Independent\, The Sunday Times\, The Irish Examiner\, The Irish Independent\, The Irish Times\, The Business Post\, Hot Press\, and Classic Rock Magazine. He’s a regular contributor on RTE Radio One’s Arena\, and on several Newstalk shows including The Hard Shoulder\, Moncrieff\, and Lunchtime Live. He’s turned up on television the odd time too but producers are unanimous in their opinion that his is a face for radio.

SUMMARY:Promiscuous Writing: Jumping Across Forms
DESCRIPTION:Sara Baume\, Gustav Parker Hibbett and Ralf Webb\n\n\nThree writers\, Sara Baume\, Gustav Parker Hibbett\, and Ralf Webb – who write across forms of fiction\, non-fiction\, poetry\, art writing\, and beyond – discuss their writing practices with Tolka\, a Dublin-based literary magazine that publishes ‘formally promiscuous’ non-fiction. These writers will explore how easy or difficult it is to jump between different mediums\, their various approaches to writing poetry\, fiction and non-fiction\, as well as discussing specific pieces they have written for Tolka. The discussion will be followed by the launch of Tolka Issue Twelve\, with short readings from featured contributors. \nPlease note we may be capturing candid imagery at this event for use on our social media and website. \nSara Baume is the author of three novels\, Spill Simmer Falter Wither\, A Line Made by Walking and Seven Steeples\, which was shortlisted for the Goldsmiths Prize and the International Dylan Thomas Prize\, and one book of narrative non-fiction\, handiwork\, which was shortlisted for the Rathbones Folio Prize. She has received the Rooney Prize for Literature\, a Lannan Literary Fellowship\, the E. M Forster Award and in 2023 she was named one of Granta magazine’s ‘Best Young British Novelists.’ Her fifth book\, Opening Night\, was published in July 2026. She is based in West Cork where she works also as a visual artist. \nGustav Parker Hibbett is a Black poet\, essayist\, and MFA dropout. Their debut poetry collection\, High Jump as Icarus Story (Banshee Press\, 2024)\, won the John Pollard Foundation International Poetry Prize and was shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot Prize\, among other honours. They were the 2025 Commissioned Writer for Temple Bar Gallery + Studios\, and they have recently completed a PhD in Literary Practice at Trinity College Dublin. \nRalf Webb is the author of poetry collections Highway Cottage and Rotten Days in Late Summer\, as well as the non-fiction book Strange Relations\, which was shortlisted for the Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award. His poems\, essays\, and fiction have appeared widely. She is a regular contributor to Irish and international broadcast media\, has anchored television and radio programmes for Virgin Media and Newstalk\, and has previously written for the Sunday Independent and the Irish Times. \nElaina Ryan is CEO of Children’s Books Ireland\, an all-island charity which aims to inspire and enable children and young people in Ireland to become readers for life. Children’s Books Ireland supports authors and illustrators and informs families\, teachers\, booksellers\, librarians\, publishers and other adults who influence children and young people’s reading. Elaina is co-chair of the European reading promotion network EURead. \nKim A. Snyder is an Academy Award nominee and Peabody Award-winning Director/Producer. Her latest feature documentary\, The Librarians\, premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival\, and has been nominated for a 2026 Primetime Emmy. The Librarians has won 30 festival awards\, was released theatrically in over 200 cities internationally\, and broadcast on PBS/Independent Lens. Her most recent short documentary\, Death by Numbers\, was nominated for a 2025 Academy Award. Snyder’s other acclaimed films include Us Kids (Sundance 2020)\, Lessons from a School Shooting (Best Short Doc Tribeca 2018\, Netflix Original)\, Newtown (Sundance 2016\, Peabody Award\, PBS/Independent Lens). She associate produced the Academy Award-winning short Trevor\, which inspired The Trevor Project\, a leading national nonprofit focused on LGBTQ+ youth suicide prevention. Kim earned a master’s degree in International Affairs from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and resides in New York City. \nAudrey Wilson-Youngblood is an educator with over two decades of experience in K-12 and higher education. Throughout her career as a teacher\, librarian\, and leader\, she’s been an advocate for student writers and readers\, promoting literacy and the free and open exchange of ideas in library spaces.  With experience in both school and academic libraries\,  Audrey is pursuing her PhD in Information Science with the goal of becoming a library educator to prepare and mentor the next generation of librarians. \nRuth Hegarty is Managing Editor of the Royal Irish Academy’s publishing house. She produces beautiful accessible books rooted in scholarship that encourage readers to return to the primary source . Rosaleen holds a BA\, two MPhils from Trinity College Dublin and a PhD from Northumbria University. She was reappointed a Human Rights Commissioner in June 2025 and is a member of the Arts Council of Ireland. \nKatherine O’Donnell is Professor of the History of Ideas in the School of Philosophy\, University College Dublin. She has published widely on the history of masculinity\, the culture and politics of eighteenth century Ireland and on Ireland’s widespread system of residential institutional abuse and forced family separation. She is a member of Justice for Magdalenes Research whose work was instrumental in securing a state apology and redress scheme for those held in Magdalene Laundries. This event features three of Ireland’s leading comics creators and contributors to the first issue of PANDEMONIUM\, Phil Barrett\, Alan Dunne and Katherine Foyle\, who will read from their work and join editor Eoin Rogers in-conversation to discuss their work and how they went about putting together their pieces for the journal. \nPlease note we may be capturing candid imagery at this event for use on our social media and website. \nPhilip Barrett is a comic artist\, illustrator\, graphic recorder and comics educator originally from Co. Donegal. He illustrated the children’s book best-sellers ‘Where’s Larry?’ and ‘Where’s Larry this time’\, as well as Limerick-set graphic novel ‘Savage Town’ with the writer Declan Shalvey. He illustrated the famous ‘Only Massive Map of Dublin’ for the Little Museum of Dublin. Philip’s illustrations and comics have appeared in numerous publications. He has been self-publishing his comic ‘Matter’ for almost two decades.  \nAlan Dunne is an award-winning freelance illustrator from Ireland. His unique style blends digital and traditional processes with occasional paper-craft. His work has been used in children’s and young adult publications\, graphic novels\, editorial pieces\, advertising campaigns\, postage stamps\, museums\, restaurants\, and visitor centres. In his work\, Alan places great emphasis on storytelling and historical research\, bringing his characters and details to life. His impressive work includes the book ‘The Great Irish History Book‘ written by Myles Dungan and published by Gill. Alan spent 12 years as a motion designer for RTÉ television before pursuing illustration full time. He loves incorporating motion and animation into his work. Alan is a member of Illustrators Ireland\, the Association of Illustrators\, and the Society of Authors\, and lectures part-time at NCAD\, Dublin. \nKatherine Foyle is a Dublin-based comics creator and illustrator. She received a BA Hons in Visual Communications and History of Art & Design in 2013 from the NCAD. She loves expressive hand-lettering and creating immersive stories in any medium. Katherine is a Dublin-based creative who has been working in video editing and directing since 2013\, specialising in documentary and corporate video. She is currently directing feature length documentary The Bee Team for Up On Blue Bridge Productions\, of which she is a co-founder. \nEoin Rogers is a writer and literary programmer from Dublin. In 2024 Holy Show commissioned his comics to feature in an exhibition in the Museum of Literature Ireland. Her collection Silver Spoon is published by Salmon Poetry. She has pamphlets with Nine Pens Press and the Black Light Engine Room press. She is the recipient of several awards\, including the Ireland Chair of Poetry Travel Award in 2025 and the Dermot Healy Award for Fiction and Poetry. Her work has been published in Banshee\, The Stinging Fly and Skylight47. She is an editor with Drunk Muse Press and The Poet’s Republic and currently works as an ESOL tutor. Somewhere is her first novel. \nDjamel White’s long road to publication is both moving and inspiring. Djamel left secondary school at the age of 17 and was dealing with lots of problems at home\, he managed to fight his way out and enrolled in a community training programme for early school leavers. From there he found people who believed and respected him\, propelling him to go to university at the age of 21. There\, he earned a BA in English and Creative Writing\, and an MFA in Creative Writing\, both from University College Dublin\, where he was mentored by writers such as Declan Hughes\, Sarah Moss and Anne Enright. During this time\, he worked with Irish non-profit literary organisation Fighting Words\, established by Roddy Doyle in 2009\, that sparked his belief that one day he could become a writer. All Them Dogs is his debut novel.  \nAingeala Flannery is deputy publisher of The Dublin Review and producer of The Dublin Review Podcast. She is a writer\, broadcast journalist and teacher. His translations from Spanish\, Russian and Asturian have appeared in publications including The Glasgow Review of Books\, World Literature Today\, minor literature[s]\, Subtropics\, Wasafiri\, Poetry Ireland Review\, Exchanges\, World Poetry Review and Asymptote. In December 2023\, he was the inaugural resident at the Residencia Lliteraria Xixón in Asturias. His translation of the novel Ánima fatua by the Cuban writer Anna Lidia Vega Serova (Amaurea Press\, 2025) received an English PEN Translates Award in 2025. \nMorgan Leathem Ventura is a writer\, curator\, and translator based between Ireland and Mexico. Writing and translations appear or are forthcoming in Poetry Ireland Review\, Latin American Literature Today\, Banshee\, Southword\, Propel\, and Best Canadian Essays 2021. As a curator and researcher\, Morgan has written for Al Jazeera\, American Anthropologist\, the Archaeological Review from Cambridge\, and Current Anthropology. The recipient of bursaries from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland\, Fulbright Commission\, and UK Research and Innovation fund\, she holds degrees from the Seamus Heaney Centre\, Queen’s University Belfast and University of Chicago. His work has been translated into several languages and nominated for various prizes. His writing has appeared in the New York Times\, Observer\, New Statesman\, Dublin Review\, and many other publications. His new novel\, Cameo\, is published by W&N. \nDanielle McLaughlin’s short story collection Dinosaurs on Other Planets was published in 2015 by The Stinging Fly Press. In 2019\, she was a Windham-Campbell Prize recipient\, and won the Sunday Times Audible Short Story Award. Her first novel\, The Art of Falling\, was published in 2021 by John Murray and was shortlisted for the Dublin Literary Award 2022. In 2023 she was a recipient of a Markievicz Award. Her second novel\, Rituals\, was published by The Stinging Fly Press in 2026. \nNeil Tully is a writer from the west of Ireland. His debut novel\, The Visit\, was published in March 2026. Oein is the author of the award-winning Why the moon travels. His other works are Weave\, The Slug and the Snail and Twiggy Woman. He is the Curator of Traveller Culture with the National Museum of Ireland and seeks to pair community activism with cultural celebration\, recalling old tales with fresh modern connections and\, most of all\, he wishes to rekindle the hearth fires of a shared kinship. \nPatricia Fjellgren is a translator\, writer\, project leader\, and cultural worker with Northern and Southern Sámi heritage. She writes essays and literary texts while devoting much of her career to Sámi language revitalisation through literary\, cultural\, and language education projects. She received the Swedish Language Council’s Minority Language Prize in 2017.
