Now\, four decades on from its original release\, Playback bring you a live re-enactment of Talking Heads’ classic concert film Stop Making Sense. Floor lamp? Check. Big suit? Check. A tape they’d like to play? Check. Come\, watch and dance the night away as the band blasts through classics like “Psycho Killer”\, “Once in a Lifetime”\, “Burning Down the House” and “This Must Be the Place”. After the last chord of “Crosseyed and Painless” has faded away\, stay for encores selected from among Talking Heads’ greatest hits. There’s truly something for everyone! \nPlayback is a “concept tribute” band. They cover specific albums or periods of various band’s careers\, then round out their sets with a selection of the artist’s greatest hits. So far their repertoire includes Bob Dylan’s mid-’60s electric period\, David Bowie’s mid-’70s statements Aladdin Sane\, Diamond Dogsand Young Americans\, and Talking Heads’ iconic Stop Making Sense. DESCRIPTION:Kíla perform a one off concert at The Purty Kitchen this coming October + special guests to be announced. Limited Tickets!\n\n\nFormed at school in Dublin’s late 1980’s\, Award-winning band\, Kíla\, are heralded as one of Ireland’s most innovative and exciting bands. Their unique sound has been ever-evolving\, rooted in tradition\, yet inspired by a myriad of influences and ideas from all around the world. \nOften defined as contemporary Irish World music\, Kíla fuse the effects of their own melodies and Irish (Gaeilge) lyrics\, Irish folk instruments such as whistles\, fiddles\, Uilleann pipes\, bones and bodhrán with djembe\, congas\, drums\, mandolins\, brass\, and acoustic/electric/ bass guitars. Kíla’s eight members come from the differing musical backgrounds of traditional\, classical\, and rock. \nThe result is a fresh blend of freewheeling instrumentals\, furious jigs\, and primal rhythms that transcend the traditional boundaries of Irish music. \nKíla have worked extensively in TV and film. In 2020 they won the IFTA for Best Original Score for the soundtrack or Arracht (TG4). Their most notable collaborations have been with French composer Bruno Coulais on the soundtracks for Cartoon Saloon’s three Oscar-nominated animated films The Secret of Kells (2010)\, Song of the Sea (2014)\, and most recently for Wolfwalkers (2020). \nOver the past number of years they are forever evolving and forever furthering their legacy in Irish music performing high profile events both nationally and Internationally and are still growing in popularity as one of Ireland’s must-see live bands! \n \nCatch Kila this October for a very special Halloween party at The Purty Kitchen Dún Laoghaire for one night only + special guests to be announced shortly!
