Oein is the author of the award-winning Why the moon travels. His other works are Weave\, The Slug and the Snail and Twiggy Woman. He is the Curator of Traveller Culture with the National Museum of Ireland and seeks to pair community activism with cultural celebration\, recalling old tales with fresh modern connections and\, most of all\, he wishes to rekindle the hearth fires of a shared kinship. \nPatricia Fjellgren is a translator\, writer\, project leader\, and cultural worker with Northern and Southern Sámi heritage. She writes essays and literary texts while devoting much of her career to Sámi language revitalisation through literary\, cultural\, and language education projects. She received the Swedish Language Council’s Minority Language Prize in 2017. Devlin has won numerous awards for both her writing and journalism. She has been shortlisted three times for the Irish Book of the Year awards. She writes weekly current affairs columns for the Irish Independent and has been named National Newspapers of Ireland columnist of the year. She frequently chairs literary and current affairs events and is a regular commentator on BBC and RTÉ. She was born in Omagh and lives in Dublin. \nEmily Hourican  is the author of ten novels\, including The Glorious Guinness Girls\, The Kennedy Affair\, The Privileged\, The Blamed and The Outsider\, one book of non-fiction\, How To Really Be A Mother\, and a children’s book\, Murder At The Ivy Hotel. Emily has been an editor and a journalist for over 20 years. Emily was born in Belfast and grew up in Brussels\, where she went to the European School along with all the other Eurobrats. She moved to Dublin in 1990 and studied English and History at UCD\, then did a master’s in English literature\, also at UCD. She lives in Dublin with her husband\, David\, and their three children. \nHenrietta McKervey is the author of the acclaimed novels What Becomes of Us\, The Heart of Everything\, Violet Hill and A Talented Man. She has a Hennessy First Fiction Award and won the inaugural UCD Maeve Binchy Travel Award. Her Travel Award project\, an exploration of the 31 Sea Areas of the Shipping Forecast\, featured on BBC Radio 4. She has programmed the ECHOES festival and International Literature Festival Dublin\, and contributes to the Irish Times\, Irish Independent\, Sunday Independent and the Brendan O’Connor show on RTÉ Radio 1. \nNeil Hegarty’s novels include The Jewel; and Inch Levels\, which was shortlisted for the Kerry Group Novel of the Year award. Neil’s non-fiction titles include the biography Frost: That Was the Life That Was\, and The Story of Ireland\, which accompanies the RTE-BBC television history of Ireland. Turtle Bunbury’s Laois in 100 Objects (Wordwell Books) is a unique history of the county from prehistory to the present day. Siobhán Doyle’s Irish Sport in 100 Objects (Merrion Press) brings us around Ireland to discover objects that carry extraordinary sporting stories. \nPlease note we may be capturing candid imagery at this event for use on our social media and website. \nTurtle Bunbury\, an Irish author\, historian\, broadcaster\, and award-winning podcaster\, is renowned for his engaging storytelling\, meticulous research\, and work in documenting and preserving Irish history and heritage. \nSiobhán Doyle is a cultural historian and works in the National Museum of Ireland. She holds a PhD in Museum Studies from Technological University Dublin and has lectured in Design History. Siobhán is from Co. Wexford and has studied and worked in museums in Dublin for ten years. Her 2022 book A History of the GAA in 100 Objects was shortlisted for Sports Book of the Year at the An Post Irish Book Awards that year. \nLar Joye is Port Heritage Director at Dublin Port. Previously he curated the award-winning Soldiers & Chiefs the Irish soldier at home and abroad from 1550 exhibition at National Museum of Ireland\, described as a museum with a museum. He played a key role in the Decade of Commemorations 2012-2017 involved in a variety of projects including the 1913 Lockout: Impact & Aftermath and Banners Unfurled exhibitions and the WWI exhibitions Recovered Voices 1914-1916 & War in the Mud\, the Irish Soldier on the Western Front\, 1917. He represented the National Museum on the Irish Battlefield commission and on the Moore Street and GPO projects. In 2016 he was historical adviser for An Post’s 2016 commemorative stamp series. More recently he has partnered with the theatre company Anu productions on the plays Pals- the Irish at Gallipoli\, Sunder and These Rooms.  \nCatriona Crowe is co-presenter\, with Diarmaid Ferriter\, of the RTE history podcast What Were We Like?\, and Curator of First Thought Talks at the Galway International Arts Festival. Among his recently published titles are Irish and Ecology: An Ghaeilge agus an Éiceolaíocht (FÁS\, 2019) and Eco-Travel: Journeying in the Age of the Anthropocene (Cambridge University Press\, 2022). He is a Member of the Royal Irish Academy\, a Member of the Academia Europaea\, an Officier in the Ordre des Palmes Académiques and a Fellow of Trinity College Dublin. \nLiam Mac Cóil is a writer and critic. He lives in the County Meath Gaeltacht of Ráth Chairn. He has written books\, articles and essays on literature\, history\, the arts and television. His novel An Dochtúir Áthas (1994) was the first Irish language book shortlisted for The Irish Times Literary Awards. Since then\, he has written other novels including An Claíomh Solais (The Sword of Light)\, a writer’s diary\, Nótaí ón Lár\, and An Chláirseach agus an Choróin: Seacht gCeolsiansa Stanford\, a book about the composer Charles Villiers Stanford. His novel\, Fontenoy won the Gradam Uí Shúilleabháin 2006 award. His ‘Lúcás Ó Briain’ series of historical thrillers are set in Ireland and the continent of Europe in 1612. \nRéaltán Ní Leannáin was born and bred in Belfast. She has lived and worked in many parts of Ireland and Spain. Cití na gCártaí is Réaltán’s third book. Her first is a poetry collection\, Turas Ailse (Coiscéim)\, a record of a life-changing experience. Turas Ailse was followed by a collection of short stories\, Dílis (Cló Iar-Chonnacht)\, brimming with tales rooted in the memories of her teenage years\, growing up in Belfast during the Troubles and in particular the seventies. \nDarach Ó Scolaí is a writer\, playwright\, and publisher. His novel An Cléireach (Leabhar Breac\, 2007) won the Oireachtas Prize 2007 and Gradam Uí Shúilleabháin ‘Irish language Book of the Year’ 2008\, and his edtion of Táin Bó Cuainge won the Aodán Mac Poilín Memorial Prize 2017 and Gradam Uí Shúilleabháin ‘Irish language Book of the Year 2018. He published two retellings of the tales An Ceithearnach Caolriabhach (2002) and Feis Tigh Chonáin (2000). Her book The Maamtrasna Murders: Language\, Life and Death in Nineteenth-Century Ireland (UCD Press\, 2018) was awarded the Michael J. Durkan Prize for Books in Language and Culture and was shortlisted for the Michel Déon Prize. She has published widely in the areas of Irish literary and cultural history. Margaret was Cullman Center Fellow at New York Public Library (2022 –2023) where she researched the library’s holdings of papers relating to writers Padraic and Mary Colum\, housed in the Berg Collection\, and she was Parnell Fellow in Irish Studies at Magdalene College\, Cambridge (2023 –2024). Her new book Mary and Padraic Colum: Lives and the Dream is published by UCD Press. \nÉilís Ní Dhuibhne was born in Dublin. She was awarded a Ph D in Irish Folklore from UCD in 1982\, and is best known as a writer of fiction. Author of over 30 novels\, short stories\, memoir and drama her work her most recent books are Twelve Thousand Days: A Memoir (shortlisted for the Michel Déon Award 2020) and Little Red and Other Stories (Blackstaff 2020)\, Selected Stories (Blackstaff 2023)\, Milseog an tSamhraidh (Clo Iar Chonnacht 2023)\, and Look! It’s a Woman Writer! (Arlen House\, 2021). She has been the recipient of many literary awards\, including the Burns Literature Award\, Stuart Parker Award for Drama\, Bisto Book of the Year Award\, many Oireachtas awards\, and shortlisting for the Orange Prize for Fiction. In autumn 2020 she held the Burns Professorship at Boston College. The authors will join writer and critic Niall MacMonagle to discuss their writing process\, and the power of the short story to explore universal themes from loneliness and desire\, to memory\, loss and human connection. \nPlease note we may be capturing candid imagery at this event for use on our social media and website. \nNiamh Mac Cabe is an award-winning writer of fiction\, nonfiction\, poetry\, plays\, and hybrid prose. She is also a visual artist\, an editor\, and a lecturer on the Honours Degree in Writing & Literature\, the Honours Degree in Performing Arts\, and the Masters in Creative Practice at ATU Sligo. Dublin-born\, she worked overseas for several years in the Animated Film industry before ‘settling’ in northwestern Ireland.   \nNiall MacMonagle\, writer and critic\, has edited several anthologies\, including the Lifeline series\, the Poetry Now textbooks\, Windharp\, Poems of Ireland since 1916 and Paul Durcan 80 at 80. He writes a weekly art column for the Sunday Independent and in 2017 was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by UCD for Services to Literature. \nJohn O’Donnell has won the Irish National Poetry Prize\, the New Irish Writing Awards for Poetry and Fiction\, and in 2023 the RTE Francis McManus Short Story Award for his story ‘Mr Hoo’. He has published five poetry collections. His collection of short stories Almost the Same Blue (Doire Press) was nominated as one of the Debut Books of the Year in the Irish Times and was longlisted for the Edge Hill Short Story Prize. Rainbow Baby\, a play for radio\, was broadcast on RTE’s Drama On One and won a prize at the New York Festivals Radio Awards. A documentary he co-produced about the Fastnet Yacht Race disaster of 1979\, Back To The Rock\, was broadcast on RTE Radio’s The Doc On One. His debut novel\, Second Skin\, was one of the winners of the Irish Writers Centre Novel Fair 2024. Over the past 25 years she has acted in many landmark cases internationally\, in the UK and Europe\, including representing bereaved families of the Hillsborough Disaster and the 7/7 London Bombings\, and in test cases which have changed laws on children’s rights\, for survivors of abuse\, and on access to abortion in Northern Ireland. Internationally\, Caoilfhionn’s work for wrongfully imprisoned people has seen her take on governments around the world\, and she has secured the freedom of over 85 wrongly imprisoned journalists\, bloggers\, cartoonists\, musicians\, businesspeople and activists. She is the world’s leading expert on accountability for deaths of journalists and regularly acts for bereaved families of journalists killed for their work. Caoilfhionn was appointed a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 2017 for her “outstanding contribution to the protection of human rights\,” for devising a mass advertising campaign to highlight positive human rights stories. He is the author of a short story collection and several volumes of poetry and prose. His two novels A dögeltakarító (The Carcass Remover\, 2015) and A rózsákról (About the Roses\, 2021) were highly acclaimed in Hungary. They have been translated into German also. The Carcass Remover is the winner of the Miklós Mészöly Prize\, the Tibor Déry Prize and the Milán Füst Prize. \nOwen Good is a Northern Irish translator living in Budapest\, where he is co-editor of Hungarian Literature Online. Winner of the Tibor Déry Prize in 2025 for his devotion to the Hungarian language and literature\, his publications include Krisztina Tóth’s Pixel (named runner up for EBRD Literature Prize)\, Zsolt Láng’s The Birth of Emma K. She holds a BA (Hons) in Illustration from Ulster University. Her practice explores Ireland’s indigenous ecosystems\, rooted in sustainable methodologies and material research. Her art celebrates the natural world. \nSarah Little is a writer and artist from West Fermanagh. She spent her childhood and teens wrapped up in reading and telling stories\, and there discovered her dream of becoming an author. has spent the past six years developing her young adult romance novel\, with a speculative twist exploring themes of identity\, art\, and reality. \nIlona Lo Iacono was born in Australia\, and after moving back and forth across the world\, she now lives in North County Dublin with her family. Lo Iacano enjoys writing middle grade fiction\, and uses a humorous approach to address her lived experiences\, including chronic and serious illnesses\, disability\, neurodivergence and immigrant life. \nCzacarri Muli is an illustrator\, designer and writer from Drogheda and is in his final year of Illustration at the National College of Art and Design\, Dublin.
