Methodactor + Special Guests – Live at Volume Records

Methodactor is the solo project of Edward O’Mahony, a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist from Dublin. He makes cinematic emotionally charged alternative-pop inspired by artists like Blood Orange, Dijon and James Blake. All of the strands of his career having building towards his upcoming debut album, Uncertainly.
The album is due for release in April 2027. Fifteen tracks weave acoustic recording and digital production, moving between RnB, Alternative and Pop. Uncertainly explores time passing, staying present and trying to not let fear control your life. Featuring collaborations with artists he’s spent years cultivating across the Irish scene, the album will be accompanied by a live performance film: mostly acoustic, with multiple backing vocalists, capturing the music as an intimate, immersive experience. The campaign will launch with a limited capacity Dublin show in early September 2026. With singles and live performance videos to follow leading up to the release in April 2027.
Edward has been laying the groundwork for this album over the last decade. Starting his career with fronting the Dublin Psych rock collective, Jooce before focussing on scoring and production, combining these two disciplines into what would become methodactor. As a composer, his scores span horror, folklore, drama and comedy: Bunker Baby (Galway Film Fleadh 2024; Top 5 Audience Award, Dublin International Film Festival; Best Score, Terror in the Bay 2025), For the Cure (Galway Film Fleadh 2025) and a host of varied Irish Short films including the upcoming Bigfoot Lover (2026). He sits on the board of Directors of the Screen Composers Guild of Ireland and in 2025 completed a culture Ireland funded trade mission to Los Angeles.
As a producer he has co-written produced and mixed the recorded output of Leah Rose as an ongoing creative partnership and co-wrote Selfish by Orla Monelle with placements on New Music Friday UK and BBC Radio 1Xtra.
His Debut as methodactor was the 7-track EP, A Fool’s Errand (2025) It combined his practices of composition, production and emotionally honest songwriting. They were accompanied by self-directed music videos and visualisers as well as a listening party in Egan’s Aungier street, multiple shows with underground promoter Blas do Theanga and a headline show in Dún Laoghaire. The EP was covered across Irish media and played across radio including RTE 2fm, RTE 2XM, Dublin City FM, FM104 and 98fm. Since it’s release he has been developing his new album and improving his live set up so his first show with new material in September is a special one.
