Press Play: Röyksopp ” Melody A.M.”

Shrem will open the third season of “Press Play” at The Big Romance with a night dedicated to the Norwegian maestros of electronica, synth-pop and ambient – the inimitable Röyksopp.

At the heart of this listening party will be Torbjørn Brundtland and Svein Berge’s timeless debut LP “Melody A.M.” which quickly became a cult classic among electronica fans. A quintessentially Nordic blend of glistening synths, atmospheric arrangements, subtle beats and dreamy vocals which established the Tromsø duo’s unmistakable signature sound. Featuring vocals from two legends of the Norwegian music scene – Anneli Drecker from Bel Canto and Erlend Øye from Kings of Convenience, “Melody A.M.” spawned five iconic singles (“So Easy”, “Eple”, “Poor Leno”, “Remind Me” and “Sparks”), reached number one in the Norwegian Albums chart and sold over 1 million copies worldwide. The album will be played loud, in its entirety, through the HiFi Hatchett Sound System, creating an immersive listening experience.

To accompany this truly Scandinavian listening session, Shrem will also be cherry-picking vinyl treats from Röyksopp’s complete catalogue to date, spanning across hit singles, club anthems, classic deep-cuts, numerous collaborations with artists such as Alison Goldfrapp, Lykke Li, Robyn, Susanne Sundfør, Karin Dreijer or Jamie Irrepressible and a sonic smörgåsbord of some of their fantastic remixes commissioned over the years.
