Roger Doyle & Lucy Mc Williams + Special Guests – Live at The Purty Kitchen

Roger Doyle (born 1949), known to many as the godfatther of Irish Electronica or ‘The Irish Brian Eno’ has been on a journey through music from an early age studying piano from the age of 9 and attending the Royal Irish Academy of Music after School. He also studied at the institute of sonology, University of Utrecht and the Finnish Radio experimantal music studio. In the 1970’s and early 80’s he was a drummer with bands ‘Supply demand and Curve’ and ‘Jazz Therapy’. He has been on a journey into electronic music since the early 80’s when he discovered a Fairlight sequencer in a studio he was working in which was the spark / smoking gun that caused the formation of ‘Operating Theatre’. Soon came collaborations with a young Bono who was setting up Mother Records to help expose Irish Music and whom he actually gave piano lessons to and the rest they say is history. He began his Magnum Opus label in 1989 and has released a plethora of albums and collaborations to date and which throughout has also seen Roger working in Film and Tv, Theatre, Movies, Opera and beyond. His work has been critically acclaimed and has even been formally recognized by Irish president Michael D Higgins for his contributions to Irish music. Suffering from somewhat of a resurgence in popularity in recent years and being featured as the soundtrack to ‘Gucci’s’ new jewellery line, as well as now collaborating with young up and coming talent Lucy Mc Williams, there are no signs of slowing down any time soon.
