A Word from The Pacheco Team
Hello! We are the team behind Pacheco Venezuelan Street Food, a small business proudly sharing the flavours of our culture here in Dublin, Ireland.
Right now, our home country is enduring an unimaginable and devastating crisis. We cannot stand by and watch, which is why we’ve launched this GoFundMe to support and send immediate relief to our communities.
On June 24th, 2026, two devastating earthquakes, magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5, struck Venezuela. The destruction is heartbreaking. La Guaira, a beloved coastal city, has been left completely devastated, with the catastrophic damage extending all the way into the capital, Caracas.
The Current Situation on the Ground
The reality is overwhelming. Many of us have tragically lost family and friends, and the crisis is deepening every day:
- Rising Death Toll & Missing People: The number of lives lost continues to rise, the death toll has climbed significantly over the past few weeks, and many people are still missing beneath the rubble. Thousands more are seriously injured.
- Families Left Homeless: Many people are now displaced and homeless, having lost everything they own.
- Orphaned Children: Tragically, many children have been left without parents and family members due to the disaster.
- Collapsed Healthcare System: Local hospitals are severely lacking resources and have completely collapsed under the strain.
- Disease Outbreaks: With basic services and clean water gone, infectious diseases are beginning to spread rapidly.
- Injured Animals: Countless pets are displaced, injured, and wandering without shelter.
Why Your Help is Crucial
Right now, there is a severe lack of official aid and organized assistance. Everyday civilians are stepping up as volunteers to rescue, help, and care for one another, but they are working with almost no resources.
How We Will Use the Funds
Because the situation is so volatile, daily necessities change constantly. We are establishing a long-term fund to provide exact, practical support as conditions evolve:
- Direct, Fast Action: We are sending help directly to trusted friends who are working daily in La Guaira and the hardest-hit areas. We will provide full transparency, with regular updates showing exactly how your funds are actively helping on the ground.
- Targeted Relief: Whether the daily need is medicine, clean water, food, sanitary supplies, or shelter materials, your donation will allow our friends on the ground to buy exactly what is needed at that specific moment.
The recovery will take a long time, and we want to be there for our people every step of the way. Please consider donating. No amount is too small to make a profound difference.
Meet Our Friends Helping on the Ground
To ensure your donations make the most immediate impact, funds are going directly to our trusted network of local heroes:
- Patricia Vergara: Patricia has been visiting La Guaira from Caracas since day one. From searching for survivors beneath the rubble to personally visiting families who have lost their homes, she has been working tirelessly to hand-deliver medicines and daily essentials directly to the community.
- Mariana / Komboloi Pets Food (Caracas): Mariana, who runs a local pet food company in Caracas, is hand-delivering essential resources to volunteer veterinarians caring for displaced, injured, and vulnerable animals.
- Victor (Los Caracas): Our college friend Victor is a local surfer in Los Caracas, a surfing beach in La Guaira. Driven by his profound respect for the ocean, he is working passionately to support the coastal communities and protect the local environment in the wake of this disaster.
- Prato Family: Help the Prato Family Rebuild John Prato has experienced an unimaginable tragedy, losing eleven members of his family. One surviving relative who lived in the building that collapsed made it out alive but lost everything they owned. As they begin the difficult journey of rebuilding their lives from nothing, we’re asking our community to come together and help. Every contribution, no matter the size, can make a meaningful difference by providing essential needs, replacing basic belongings, and helping this family take the first steps toward a new beginning.
Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, and for standing with Venezuela during this heartbreaking time.
