As Dublin Book Festival celebrates 20 years of showcasing the best in Irish writing, join two of Ireland’s most acclaimed authors, Booker Prize winners Roddy Doyle and Anne Enright.  Both have shaped contemporary Irish literature over the past two decades, producing work that has captivated readers at home and around the world. They join The Irish Times Books Editor Martin Doyle, whose new collection A Hosting: Interviews with Irish Writers 1991–2026 (Lilliput Press) brings together conversations with many of Ireland’s most celebrated writers. Join us for a special conversation about writing, success, and the changing landscape of Irish literature.

Roddy Doyle was born in Dublin in 1958. He is the author of twelve acclaimed novels including The Commitments, The Snapper, The Van and Smile, two collections of short stories, and Rory & Ita, a memoir about his parents. He won the Booker Prize in 1993 for Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha.

Anne Enright is the author of eight novels, two books of short stories and three selections of essays, most recently Attention. First Laureate for Irish Fiction, winner of the Man Booker Prize her most recent honours include The Seamus Heaney Award for Arts and Letters (2025) and The Windham Campbell Prize (2025). Enright is Professor of Fiction at University College Dublin.

Martin Doyle is Books Editor of The Irish Times and a former Editor of The Irish Post. He is the author of Dirty Linen: The Troubles in My Home Place (Merrion Press, 2023), which was shortlisted for Irish Nonfiction Book of the Year, and A Hosting: Interviews with Irish Writers 1991-2026 (Lilliput Press, 2026). He has contributed essays to The 32: An Anthology of Irish Working-Class Voices (Unbound, 2021) and The Routledge Handbook of the Northern Ireland Conflict and Peace (Routledge, 2023) and edited A History of The Irish Post (London, 2000).
