Shane Hegarty lives near Dublin with his family. He has been writing stories for children since 2015, when his middle-grade fantasy book Darkmouth was published. Shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize, the An Post Irish Book Awards and the Bord Gáis Irish Book Awards, this series has been sold into 20 territories worldwide. Shane is also the author of the bestselling series Boot, which was nominated for the Sainsbury’s Children’s Book Prize, the An Post Irish Book Awards and was chosen as an UNESCO Dublin City Of Literature Citywide Read, as well as The Shop of Impossible Ice Creams: Big Berry Robbery, which was shortlisted in the Laugh Out Loud Book Awards 2025. When not writing, Shane likes reading, running and carrot cake (not all at the same time).
