The journey begins underground, where a hidden excavation reveals the 10th century viking foundations of Dublin.
One of the most striking things about Kilmainham Gaol is its architecture. The prison was built in the Georgian style, with high walls and large windows, and it is considered a fine example of this type of architecture. Visitors can take a guided tour of the prison and see the cells, the exercise yard, and the chapel, all of which have been carefully restored to their former appearance.
